Learn handpan

Learn to play the handpan

For beginners:

There is hardly any instrument that can be learned as easily as playing the handpan. After learning the touch technique, which usually takes between 20-30 minutes, you can intuitively start playing right away. By simply alternating left and right hands, simple melodies and measures can be played without any prior knowledge.

For advanced users:

After the first basic techniques are learned, there are numerous ways to improve your game. Since the handpan is a rhythm and melody instrument, you can keep learning in two areas:

  • Due to the different time signatures (3/4 time, 4/4 time) or paradiddles, many exercises from the field of percussion (drums, cajon, djembe) can be adopted.
  • Melody or harmony: this is definitely not a must, because we can intuitively hear what goes well together and what doesn't. Still, it can be helpful to know how different melodies build up or how best to play along with other musicians.

In our workshops you have the possibility to attend a beginner or advanced workshop to increase your playing level and to learn more and more.
